Lucky Bamboo, scientifically known as Dracaena sanderiana, is a popular indoor plant often cultivated in water, though it can also thrive in soil. Despite its common name, it is not a true bamboo but a member of the asparagus family (Asparagaceae). Native to Central Africa, it is widely recognized for its stalks, which are often trained into decorative shapes like spirals or braids, and its association with good fortune and prosperity in Feng Shui. It is a resilient and low-maintenance plant, making it a favored choice for home and office decoration.
Plant Care Tips
Sunlight
Tolerates low sunlight or fluorescent light, but will thrive in medium, indirect light. Direct, bright sunlight should be avoided.
Maintenance
Water when top two inches of soil are dry. Water thoroughly.
Temperature
Does well at room temperature between 60°F - 77°F. Cold temperatures should be avoided.
Humidity
Prefers higher levels of humidity, around 75% or above.
